The image of the two violins embracing each other somehow evokes the dialogue that Vivaldi, in an imaginative and
brilliant fashion, establishes between them, as two beings that feel, that live, that speak.
For that reason I have chosen the concerto L'Estro armonico, Concerto No. 8 in A Minor for two violins, by Antonio Vivaldi.
Antonio Vivaldi, a Venetian composer who lived between 1678 and 1741, composed a multitude of concertos for solo
instruments, mainly for bow instruments such as the violin or violoncello. In 1711 he published a collection of twelve
concertos with the imaginative title L'Estro armonico, among which is Concerto No. 8, written in the key of A Minor for
two solo violins, strings and basso continuo under catalogue n º RV 522.

The violin, an instrument for palaces and the nobility, but also an instrument of the people and the streets, has been
able to influence and seduce a large number of composers and fine artists, either for its smooth but energetic loudness,
joyful but mysterious, or perhaps due to its curved and elegant form, so near to the female body. We have a beautiful
sample of this seduction between the instrument and the artist in the work of Guillem Crespí.
